What Happened
The right locksmith service depends on what happened. An all-keys-lost situation is different from making a spare, and a key locked inside the vehicle is different from a key that no longer starts the car.

I may be able to generate, cut and program a replacement for many vehicles.

You may only need vehicle lockout service, not a replacement key.

Still have one working key? This may be a good time to make a spare or duplicate.

The cause may be the battery,
remote, programming, key,
ignition or another vehicle issue.

All Keys Lost
If you've lost your only car key, don't assume the first thing you need to do is tow the vehicle to a dealership. There are usually a few options worth checking.
Option 1
For many vehicles, I can come directly to the vehicle, generate or cut a replacement key and program the transponder, remote or smart key when required.
Option 2
A dealer may be able to obtain a key using the VIN and proof of ownership. Before choosing that option, ask whether the vehicle must be towed, whether the key is in stock or must be ordered, and whether programming is included.
Option 3
Keys and fobs are sold online, but appearance alone does not guarantee compatibility. The correct part number, frequency, chip and programming procedure can vary by vehicle. Cutting and programming may still be required.
Spare & Duplicate Keys
In many cases, yes. Making an additional key while you still have a working one can be easier than dealing with an all-keys-lost situation. Depending on the vehicle, I may be able to cut and program a duplicate or spare key at your location.
Call (757) 000-0000 with the year, make and model and tell me what type of key you currently have.

Vehicle Lockout
If the keys are sitting inside the vehicle, you probably do not need a replacement key. You need a car lockout service. I provide mobile vehicle lockout service using professional automotive entry tools appropriate for the vehicle.
If a child, vulnerable person or animal is in immediate danger inside a locked vehicle, contact emergency services first.
Key Cutting
Different vehicles use different key blades and key systems. I carry mobile key-cutting equipment for many vehicles I service, which allows a new key to be cut at the vehicle when the job can be completed on-site.
The exact process depends on the year, make, model and key system. Some vehicles require additional information, equipment or procedures before a working replacement key can be produced.

Transponder Programming
Many modern car keys contain a transponder chip that communicates with the vehicle's immobilizer system. A mechanically correct key may still fail to start the vehicle until the correct key is programmed to the vehicle.
For supported vehicles, I provide car key and transponder programming at the vehicle. Compatibility and programming procedures vary by year, make and model.
Smart & Proximity Keys
Push-to-start vehicles commonly use smart or proximity keys. The exact replacement and programming procedure depends on the vehicle and key system.
I work with many common vehicle systems, but I do not claim that every key for every vehicle can be made on-site. Call with the year, make and model so I can check the key type and service requirements.

Broken Key & Fob Issues
If you've lost your only car key, don't assume the first thing you need to do is tow the vehicle to a dealership. There are usually a few options worth checking.
A broken key does not automatically mean you need a new ignition or door lock. If part of the key is stuck, I can determine whether it can be extracted and what is required to make a replacement. Avoid repeatedly forcing a damaged or stuck key.
A key fob that stops working does not necessarily need replacement. A weak battery, damaged remote, programming issue or another vehicle problem can create different symptoms. Tell me exactly what the key or fob is and is not doing.
Ignition & No-Start
Not every no-start condition is caused by the key. A damaged key, security warning, ignition issue or immobilizer problem may be locksmith-related, while a battery, starter or other electrical or mechanical fault may not be.
Tell me what the vehicle is doing and what warning lights or messages you see. If the problem does not sound like a locksmith issue, I'll tell you.

Home, work, parking lot, garage or another accessible location.
Identification and appropriate proof of ownership or authorization may be required before service.
Pricing
There is not one honest price that applies to every car key. Cost can depend on the year and model, the type of key or fob, whether all keys are lost, whether programming is required, and the work necessary to generate and cut the replacement. A basic mechanical key and a modern proximity smart key are not the same job. Call (757) 000-0000 with the vehicle information and I will determine what type of key you are dealing with before quoting the appropriate service.
Decision Support
For many common vehicles, a mobile automotive locksmith can be convenient because the work can be performed where the vehicle is located.
For certain vehicles, key systems or situations, a dealership may be the better option. If it does not make sense to use a locksmith for your situation, I'll tell you.
Mobile Service
A car with no working key is not always easy to bring somewhere else. That is why A.S.A.P Locksmith operates as a mobile car locksmith. For jobs I am equipped to perform, I come to the vehicle with the tools and equipment needed to complete the work on-site whenever possible.
I provide mobile automotive locksmith service throughout Virginia Beach and selected nearby Hampton Roads communities, including Norfolk and Chesapeake. Service availability depends on the vehicle location, travel time and the type of automotive locksmith work needed.
Call (757) 000-0000 and tell me where the vehicle is.

Real Equipment
I carry automotive locksmith tools and equipment with me so I can perform many common car key and lock services at the vehicle. The equipment used depends on the vehicle and the type of service required.
