Access Control
Businesses often need locksmith service because access has changed, not because the lock is broken. An employee may leave, a key may be lost, or management may no longer know how many copies are in circulation.

I may be able to generate, cut and program a replacement for many vehicles.

You may only need vehicle lockout service, not a replacement key.

Still have one working key? This may be a good time to make a spare or duplicate.

The cause may be the battery,
remote, programming, key,
ignition or another vehicle issue.
New Homeowners
After taking possession of a home, you may know how many keys were handed to you, but not necessarily how many copies existed before you moved in.
Previous owners, tenants, relatives, cleaners, contractors or service providers may have been given keys over time. If the existing locks are in good condition, rekeying can often change access without replacing every lock.
If the hardware is worn, damaged or you want a different style, deadbolt or smart lock, I can also look at replacement options.

Home Lockout
If you cannot get into your home, call and tell me what type of door and lock you are dealing with. I will evaluate the hardware before deciding the appropriate way to regain access.
A lockout does not automatically mean the lock has to be drilled or replaced. The correct approach depends on the lock, door and condition of the hardware.
Identification and appropriate proof that you are authorized to enter the property may be required before service.
Rekeying
When a compatible lock is rekeyed, the internal key combination is changed so the previous key no longer operates it. The exterior hardware can remain in place when it is in suitable condition.
Before recommending a rekey, I check the lock brand, keyway and condition. Not every lock can be rekeyed the same way, and damaged hardware may be better replaced.
If you have several locks, I can also check whether the existing hardware is compatible with the keying arrangement you want.

Lock Replacement
Locks can become loose, difficult to turn, damaged or unreliable after years of use. Sometimes the issue is the lock itself, and sometimes the door alignment or existing hardware contributes to the problem.
I inspect the existing setup before replacing anything. If new hardware is needed, the replacement must match the door preparation, backset and other dimensions.
If the existing hardware is still in good condition and the only goal is to change the key, rekeying may be the simpler service.
Deadbolts
Deadbolts are common on exterior residential doors. I can replace existing deadbolt hardware or install compatible hardware when the door and frame are suitable.
If the door is not already prepared for the lock, the installation may require additional work. I will look at the door and existing setup before confirming what can be installed.

Lock Replacement
Smart locks can add keypad, app or keyless access, but the lock still has to physically fit and operate correctly on the door.
I can install compatible residential smart locks and check the mechanical fit and operation. Features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, hubs, accounts and app settings depend on the specific product.
If you already purchased a smart lock, send the model information before the appointment so I can check the hardware requirements.
Diagnosing the Problem
Businesses often need locksmith service because access has changed, not because the lock is broken. An employee may leave, a key may be lost, or management may no longer know how many copies are in circulation.
A key that is difficult to turn or a lock that suddenly feels different can be a sign of wear, damage, alignment or another hardware issue.
If a key breaks inside the lock, I can inspect whether the broken piece can be removed and whether the lock was damaged. If a lock is sticking or unreliable, I will look at the actual cause before recommending repair, rekeying or replacement. Avoid repeatedly forcing a key or lock that is not operating normally.

Landlords & Property Managers
I also provide residential lock service for landlords and property managers within my service area.
Common requests include rekeying between tenants, replacing damaged locks, changing deadbolts, resolving authorized lockouts and servicing residential door hardware.
For occupied properties, I may need confirmation that the person requesting the work is authorized to make changes to the locks or provide access.

Special Situations
I can help with certain residential mailbox lock problems, depending on the mailbox type and who controls the hardware. Some apartment, community or postal mailboxes are controlled by a property manager, association or postal authority. In those situations, authorization or service from the responsible party may be required.
If you are unsure, send a photo or description of the mailbox before scheduling service.
Full Service List
Service depends on the door, lock, hardware and access requirements of the property.
Before The Appointment
House, apartment, condo, rental property or another residential setting.
Locked out, lost key, moving in, damaged lock, tenant change or new hardware.
A clear photo can help identify the existing hardware before arrival.
Identification and appropriate proof of ownership, tenancy or authorization may be required for access or lock changes.
Pricing
Residential jobs can be very different from one another. Price can depend on the lock type, number of locks, condition of the hardware, service needed and whether replacement parts are required.
Rekeying one compatible lock is a different job from replacing several locks or installing new hardware. Call (757) 000-0000 and describe what you need so I can understand the job before quoting the appropriate service.
Mobile Service
Residential locksmith work is performed at the customer's property. I bring the tools and equipment needed for the scheduled service rather than asking customers to visit a locksmith shop.
I serve Virginia Beach and selected nearby Hampton Roads communities, including Norfolk and Chesapeake. Availability depends on the property location, travel time and the work needed.
Call (757) 000-0000 and tell me where the business is located and what you need help with.
